A New Adventure

Now that we have been here one full day, I think I should let everyone know that I am here safe and sound and having a blast! As soon as we arrived at our Señoras house, Chari and her husband Walter welcomed us with open arms. Chari talked our heads off while she fed us some macaroni with corn and hotdogs in it. Then she sent us to our rooms to take naps during Siesta time (2-5pm every day). Later on that evening we did a little exploring of the city with Chari. Mara and I have a roommate who goes to Westmont College, Ashley, who spent two weeks in Portugal and Spain before coming to Seville to start the program.

Our little room shared between the three of us!
(The kitchen is through the window at the foot of my bed)

Today was filled with orientation at a really nice hotel and a walking tour of the city provided by the program. We got to see many of the important buildings, parks, and monuments on our tour. We also got some inside information from our tour guide who was a young man who loves the city of Sevilla!

My favorite part of the walking tour: La Plaza de España
(If anyone recognizes it, it might be because it is one of the palaces in a Star Wars movie!)

Our last little adventure from today was after our dinner, Mara and I went out to find an Heladería close to our house. We walked out into the street with confidence we could encounter one pretty quickly. Eventually we did find one about two blocks away that was filled with people (at 11pm I should add). It was an adventure even just trying to order the ice cream we wanted, but we did it and felt pretty proud after finding some delicious ice cream! We took a walk through our neighborhood and enjoyed our ice cream very much!!

I tried the flavor called Trufa... I think it means truffle.
It was delicious! And filled with chocolate sprinkles! (That's for you, Dad!)
